Im giving this five stars for the fact that it exists. Having an electronic version of the book on my phone as an app is great. I frequently find myself checking it at the store or showing my friends. The searching capability makes it very quick and easy to find what I want. However, I think the positive possibilities for expanding this app are excellent. When I click a company name, why not have some quick facts about that company that would help explain its letter grade? How about a link that shows me nearby places I can buy grade "A" products on a map? I hope the developers continue to expand this app. Also, I would really love to see the categories not listed in all caps. Its really grating on the eyes. A few suggestions, but this is a great start!

I wish you ll be able, in a near future, to provide more info on the brands. (probably on its way). personnaly I foresee it as a very useful way of learning or checking to which major group, each brand belongs to. where is it manufactured and how much they invested in eco reforms. the grades A to F are just not enough. In the meantime, thank you for this very promising app!

This application is a great idea and easy to use, but it fails by just giving companies a letter grade without any explanation of why they were graded. It is a terrible idea to encourage people to blindly accept their ratings without any background on why a company was rated that way. For an example of how to do this right, check out the excellent Seafood Selector put out by the monteray bay aquarium. They have a rating but then they provide links to extensive documentation on how the rating was reached. We are not idiots, give us a chance to come to our own conclusions.

DJSuperfly, if you read the books the same authors published, they give you a breakdown of the reasons for the grades. All of the grades pertain to the organizations listed they used to rate them. Those organizations rate them on their overall responsibility. Great app!!

I bought this app too quickly, hoping it would have more information than the (free) web-site. Like other reviewers, I have the books, and I wanted more information than the letter grade e.g. Heroes, villains, and independent ratings that factor into the grade. Please expand the app, and I will sing its praise! (I bought ten copies of the book so I could share them with likeminded folks.)

Five stars when this app is updated. There is a new edition of the book. The web site has been updated. This app still has BP and Toyota ranked near the top of their categories. Check the web site to see where they are now! Time for an update!

I bought the book and now I bought the app because this effort gives me hope for our future and I want the project to continue expanding! Keep going!

I love the book and website. So, I decided to buy the app, but dont want to use it until the ratings are updated. I want to "vote" with the right info about the candidates.

I like the quick grade of a product/company. I wish the product/company logo was available for recognition. Also, itd be great to have some company-specific info. to know more accurately why a company gets the grade they get.

I was really excited to find this product, but was disappointed to see how out of date it was. For instance, BP is still shown as a highly rated Gasoline company! Youre better off waiting to buy until the app is updated. (Ill gladly rate it higher when that happens.)

It is important to be aware of not just what you are buying, but from whom and this app delivers. If the information on this app is accurate, then it is a great step forward in forcing companies to change their practices to be more responsible for their actions and commit to better, more ethical means of doing business. Although, it could certainly use an update.

Great app. Have used it a lot, but am very disappointed that there has yet to be an update in two years. I bought this app largely expecting the biggest benefit to be updates in the ratings. After two years there are many of these companies that no longer deserve the rating they had, big example, BP. Please update this app!

This app has the potential for greatness but as many other customers have said this app desperately needs to be updated. Also I would love to see specifically which categories individual companies have failed to perform in. The letter grade fails to explain why they received said letter grade. Please update soon. Two dollars is a high price to pay for such a primitive version of this potentially revolutionary app.

Does not give detailed info on why a company is rated the way it is. Simply a letter grade and a "C" can mean either a low rated company or an unrated company but it doesnt specify which. I dont like the idea of avoiding a company if I dont know why (seems to much like blindly following an "expert"). Has never been updated, which is very frustrating considering the many changes companies are making (for better and worse). The app is simply the outdated book but more easily portable.

Like the ratings wish it updated more and had more info about companies than letter grade but very useful when shopping. Thanks Chubs.

I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this. In the current form it should be free. It needs to have the reasons why it is graded as it is. Absolutely. And I didnt realize it was so out of date. Very disappointed. I did give it two stars because superficially it is helpful when choosing behind brands for a quick in store reference. But thats about it.

The goal of this app is to make more sustainable choices. And although the user of this app might be able to choose based on their reliance on the book and trust in the sources. When the user tries to explain the app to his/her friends or family. Whos going to find him/her credible when he cant say why hes purchasing product.

Need to update!!! The website shows BP as a D- but the app has them at a B!
